      Every year I have a cookie exchange. Thats when someone makes several dozen of the same type cookie. Then everyone brings them to my house were we have a nice lunch of home made soup, play a few games (for the little ones) then we exchange the GOODS. When everyone leaves they have different types of cookies and didn't have to spend so much time or money and you still get more cookies than Santa can eat. I also have 6 sugar cookies per child, I let the little ones decorate and take home for SANTA.

      Ok, so I don't know if it is a robbery, but here this!!!!!!! I am SOOO mad I want channel 7 to come out and report it!! ;}

      Jakes birthday was yesterday. Turned 17. He has been wanting an ipod touch for awhile, so I go to walmart here in Springfield on ST Rt 40 and purchased one. He opens it...he is all happy....he gets it charged up...when at the same time he is noticing it to be damaged on the back. I told him I would take it back today to get another one, just in case something would be wrong with it. We turne it on this morning just to see if it was similar to my iphone. Well there we TONS of games, emails, pictures on this thing. IT IS USED!! Some little girls!!!! I didnt want to return it to Walmart thinking it may be stolen...(obviously was). I call Apple and tell them the story and they tell me to talk with a Walmart manager and they will handle it...

      So Jake wanted to take it back so he could look at some other stuff at the store. I didn't see that being a problem. Well we come to find out that the ipod does not go with the box that it was returned it. So they would not refund it!! Probably thinking Jake is trying to get is the bad guy...well I call them tell them how the whole scene played out yesterday at Walmart, the cashier was all mad...on the phone...talking bad about customers...I felt sorry for him..it was really busy and he just wasn't cutting a break. When I went there I told him what I wanted....and normally I THOUGHT that they are under the item that is being displayed. Well no, I am by the ipods telling him what I want as he is still by his register, and he pulls one out under his register. Seemed odd, but thought ok, they have them there now. He was fiddling with the ipod in the box and on the phone and was just a busy scene. I told him I felt sorry for him and hoped he had a better day...pay for it and off we go.

      SO again, I am jumping all over the place I know....but I am so MAD!!...so Jake is there they are taking it back, and he goes to pick up a couple of things for me while he is there. GUESS WHAT!!!!!!!! HE LOST IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Now here we are...we purchased a more than likely stolen ipod that he lost and now we are out the money and the ipod...HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE...and who needs calm nerves DEBBIE!!!!! Kind of funny isn't it!!!!!!

      We've seen a lot of movies lately and I thought this would be a great place to discuss them and let others know if they are suitable to children or not! Anybody up for this discussion?   We just watched "land of the lost" with Will Ferrell.   I really don't like ferrell movies.  This movie is stupid funny, not meant for young children.  I give it a D.

      Then there is GI Joe, rise of the Cobra.  I really liked this , but a lot of violence, and then Star Trek, gets an A, two scenes not suitable for the younger children.

      Then we watched Wrong Turn 3, very gory.  Horror films don't scare me, so it gets a C- 

      Is the new Harry Potter movie available on DVD yet??????

  • The blessings just keep coming

      Wow... as we get ever closer to this Thanksgiving, I am feeling very blessed. A few days I bogged about some of the things I am so thankful for and now, I have even more to give thanks for. As most of you know, I was laid off earlier this year and I have actually depleted my initial unemployment benefits and just got approved for the extension when I got a call from a former employer wanting to know if I would come back to work. Now, at this point in time, it is only a temprary position but there is a possibility that it may turn into a permanent position. Since I have done this job in the past, I really don't have to train for it so that is nice and I pretty much know everyone there so not many new faces to get used to... and starting in at just a little higher wage than when I left. God is and has been so good to me and my family and I am truly THANKFUL!!!!

      Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!!

      Well Howdy folks!

      I have had way too much coffee this mornin'... Sooooo I thought I'de write about something I was doing this morning. * Watching Old Videos *

      Several years ago while on vacation in Florida ( our oldest kids were only like 9 & 11. Our baby at the time was my now 15 yr old Johnny and back then at this time he was only 2.

      So here we are in Florida, Tom Harrigan ( yes of the Car Dealership in Centrville Ohio ,Harrigan's ) was kind enough to loan his 3 story private gated community Condo to us for the week.

      Here we are with 3 kids. Rachel who then was 11 , DavidLee who was then 9 and Johnny who was then 2. My hubby upon arriving to the area decided that the kids needed some beach toy's. So he goes into a Dollar Store and buy's then some beach stuff.

      We finally reach the Condo & was shocked to see everything is WHITE. NO SERIOUSLY " WHITE ".....     The Furniture , the carpeting , the walls , the entire kitchen , all 3 bathrooms and every bedroom. EVERYTHING WAS SOLID WHITE.... I about died on the spot & quickly told the kid to never use the front door & all shoes come off in the garage which was our main and only entrance to and from the private beach out back.

      We got all settled in and decided to go to the beach. I had gotten the kids ready & the hubby was ready , already..LOL.. so off they went down to the beach while I got ready.

      So there I sit on the 3rd floor of this beautiful SOLID WHITE INTERIOR Condo looking off the 3rd floor Balcony at the kids & hubby running out across the beautiful ( ALSO ) White sand.. I started Video taping this event..      Suddenly the wind caught my ( Johnny age 2 ) Beach Ball and carried it out into the ocean. Now mind you we are in Naples Florida. The Gulf of Mexico ----------> just yonder out there is The Bermuda Triangle!

      So I'm taping this right.... I see hubby ( Who had lived in Tampa Bay for 18 yrs ) jump in & swim like MAD to try & Catch this ball...With each stroke he gets a wee bit closer and the ball gets a wee bit farther..

      Taping Taping Taping...

      All the sudden I realize he's in a Current... A Serious Rip Current! And he's swimming right out into the Bermuda Triangle!

      OK... I was born in Kentucky.. I was taught how to swim the hard way.. Thrown out of a boat into Lake Cumberland as the boat drove off I learned quickly how to swim & swim fast! I was raised between Ohio & Kentucky and knew and had read about these Rip Currents but had never experienced one.  On the other hand I was a lifegaurd for a couple of years and had some training and considered myself an excellant swimmer.

      With that all being said.... All along I was thinking to myself " It's a 1$ Flippin' Beach Ball ".. When's he gonna turn around & swim back...Taping Taping Taping.......

      Thats when Hubby turned around & started bobbing up & down in the water like a Bouey.. I tore out of that room down 3 flights of stairs ran across a wide beach & into the water ( Mind you the camera was on a tri-pod & kept taping. )

      SWIM SWIM SWIM SWIM SWIM.. Rough Current... Finally reaching him just as he was going under and grabbing the hair on his head to bring him back up... Then of course as most all drowning victoms do he FREAKS OUT & STARTS CLINGING TO ME.. So I tell him CALM DOWN & ROLL OVER ON YOUR BACK... I'll get you back in... Oh No... He wont do that he's pulling me UNDER with him... So once back up above water again I SLAP the HECK out of him & tell him " LISTEN TO ME OR WE'LL BOTH DROWN ". He snapped out of it & did what I told him to do.. I had to swin length wise directional to the beach to get back in... THE WHOLE WAY IN HE's CUSSING ME OUT.. Can You BELIEVE THAT!.. It's True I Swear it.... you can ask him if ya ever meet him...

      1/2 way back I told him if you dont shut up while I'm saving your life I'll let go now & your on your own.. So he stopped..LOL...

      So we get back to the beach ( SAND AT LAST ) Ahhhhhh.. I just lay there exausted with him as the kids were over us crying and gasping and carring on.. I finally told them " were ok ".....

      DADDY , MOMMY SAVED YOUR LIFE..... Oh no she didnt...   (0_o)...... I didnt say a word , I knew I had it on VIDEO!

      So after much complaining about " why the heck would you swim out to the Bermuda Triangle after a lousey one dollar beach ball "... He gets this funky look on his face... So of course I say " WELL WHAT IS IT "??????....

      Ummmm The Key to the Condo was in my swim trunk pocket.. and now it's somewhere out there in the ocean!

      (0_o).. Oh Geeeez..... So we manage to get ahold of security who had to call Tom Harrigan himself to verify that we were infact his Guests and then finally got back into the Condo...

      First off when we first arrived to the Condo we all took off flying out of the truck and out to the beach.. BARE FOOTED of course... I had no idea about Sand Spurs... Let me tell ya .. THOSE THINGS HURT BAD.. we hit that white sand full force running and then we all hit the sand on our bottoms picking out sand spurs off our feets...

      OUCH... And also while we were there.. EVERYTHIGN THAT COULD BITE or HURT us DID.....

      Mosquitos the size of helicopters and Jelly Fish everywhere.. HELLO SAND FLEAS.... Never knew sand had FLEAS! AND get this CRABS.. EVERYWHERE there were tiny little CRABS...Geeeezzzzz... I was like Hmmm... I know this is a free Condo and all.. And it's Beautiful here and all.. But Geeezzz... One more thing happens here & were leaving...LOL....

      So I was watchign that old video this morning.. and realized we had never watched it before..

      GUESS WHO's ON VACATION NEXT WEEK????????.... Thats Right.. Hubby!!!! And I'm gonna make him WATCH IT.... NEENER NEENER NEENER.... And then I might just get a clip of that Bobbing up & down like a Bouey out in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle and BLOW IT UP POSTER SIZE.. Give it to him for Christmas... HAHAHAHA...

      P.S. He never thanked me for saving his life.. The kids did though & thats all that matters to me.. Plus the fact I have Video Proof..  (~_*)

      I thought ya'll might get a kick out of that story.. I know I had a blast watching it this morning !!!

      Hi Everyone! I wanted to let ya'll know that BuccsMom is my sister. Got her to join lol!!! She is older than me and has the daughters that was the Homecoming Queen,Kristen and Misty that just had her 1st grandchild. She lives in Covington.

      Also wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a Blessed Thanksgiving. I will be preparing most of the meal like I always have. None of us really like turkey so will likely have ham or I told my brother I could make a meatloaf. Got my mom's recipe tis really good. No matter the food most of us will be together. Some will not make it because of work, or other committments. But I relish in the fact that most of us will be able to share the love of Thanksgiving on the farm.

      Christmas will soon be upon us as well. It always goes so fast and then its January the long leg of winter. But I will cherish the time I have in being together with family and friends this holiday season.

      I hope you too are able to spend Thanksgiving with someone you love....For all those that are alone, or serving our country I wish you too a blessed Thanksgiving!

  • Take Time To Say I Love You

      As Thanksgiving approaches next week I go back in time and think about what God has done for me.

      Life is precious you may not realize until a crisis hit's your home. I remember several years ago I went to a gym to workout. I had never been to this place before.  I was sitting on a machine when I heard the house phone ring. The trainer said are you expecting your son to come here?  I said no that must be a wrong number.  He said this is an emergency your husband is having a heart attack and is on the way to the hosptial, about that time my son walked in. I was so glad to see him we went on the the hospital and found my husband in terrible pain.

      The first miracle  happen when  he started having chest pain he was at our church working on the grounds. The good thing was there was a meeting going on and he got instant help. Thank goodness he also knew where I was  and was able to tell the church how to get hold of me.

      The second miracle Dr. Kalweit saw him quickley and put a stent in and the pain left.  All of these things had to work like clock work or he would of had permanent damage to his heart.  He has done wonderful all these years and that is a wonderful blessing.

      Time can be short on this earth tell your loved one or your friend's that you love them . The really sad part of this story is the Dr. that saved my husband's life  died last week in an airplane crash.  We will be every grateful for Dr. Kalweit and will miss him flying over our house and waving.  As we gather around with our friends and family this Thanksgiving, let us bow our heads in prayer and thank our Heavenly Father. for our the Blessings we have received.

  • Being Thankful for so much

      As we come closer to Thanksgiving and the wonderful holiday season, I am reminded about all the things we have to be thankful for. Yes, times are tough right now. I have been laid off most of this year. Our finances are streched as far as they can go right now...yet, we still have so much... Personally, I am thankful for my wonderful family. My husband & children... They are true blessings in my life. Also thankful for my extended family... Thankful for my health. I am also blessed to have a nice home, not a fancy home by any means, but a nice comfortable home that has been a part of my husband's family for 70+ years... Also, very thankful for our wonderful church family. What an awesome group of people there. Always willing to lend a hand or help out in the community any way we can. Currently, our church is collecting food items and money to make up Thanksgiving food baskets for families in need. Our youth will deliver those before Thanksgiving. Also, thankful that I just might be going back to work, at least temporarily, next week.

      Here's hoping that all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and find many things to be thankful for.

      I'M HOPPING ON MAGSTER'S COAT TAILS WITH THIS BLOG.Smile  BUT A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION HAS BEEN RAISED AND THAT IS WHAT ARE WE THANKFUL FOR THIS THANKSGIVING?  FOR ME...I'M THANKFUL TO BE ALIVE HERE WITH MY FAMILY.  I'M THANKFUL THAT THE LORD SEES FIT TO CONTINUE TO WAKE ME UP IN THE MORNING AND GIVES ME ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE 'HIM' PROUD!

      I'M THANKFUL THAT I HAVE SOMEPLACE TO CALL HOME WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE DON'T HAVE ONE.  I'M THANKFUL THAT MY OLDEST DAUGHTER IS WILLING (WITHOUT ME SAYING ANYTHING) TO GO TO 'THE OTHER PLACE' (WITH HER CHURCH GROUP) AND MAKE A NICE THANKSGIVING MEAL FOR THOSE FOLKS WHO MAY GET ONLY 1 GOOD MEAL A YEAR!  EVEN THOUGH I CONTINUALLY STRUGGLE FINANCIALLY...GOD HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD TO ME AND MY FAMILY. AND I'M THANKFUL THAT GOD HAS GIVEN ME THE FORESIGHT TO HELP OTHERS IN NEED (EVEN THOUGH I'M IN NEED MYSELF).  WE (AS A PEOPLE)  MAY TEND TO THINK THAT THE HOLIDAY SEASONS ARE ABOUT WHAT WE CAN GET OUT OF IT.  MOST FOLKS NEED TO REMEMBER WHAT WE CAN GIVE... TO OTHERS.  I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT GIFTS...I AM TALKING ABOUT TIME, VOLUNTEERING YOUR SERVICES AT YOUR CHURCH, DONATING CLOTHES AND FOOD, JUST BEING THERE FOR SOMEBODY.  YOU KNOW THIS ONE NIGHT WHEN I WAS PRAYING, I ASKED A QUESTION TO THE LORD, AND I ASKED HIM..."GOD WE DON'T MAKE YOU SMILE ANYMORE DO WE?"  I TEND TO THINK THAT WE DON'T MAKE HIM SMILE MUCH ANYMORE.  BUT EVERY NOW AND AGAIN WHEN WE GENUINELY REACH OUT TO HELP ONE OF HIS PEOPLE (OUR BROTHERS & SISTERS) HE SAYS 'WELL DONE' AND SMILES!Smile  SO IN A NUT SHELL.......THAT'S WHAT I'M THANKFUL FOR!   HOW 'BOUT YOU?????    HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

      I might be going a bit deep here, but maybe a good depth to go to. I have been thinking about things here. When I come onto this site....I see lots of different things...different angles of life...maybe different views of life or of each persons day. Sometimes maybe it is a challenge, a battle, a race as to who can find the better shot....really I don't knowl but how fun is it all...but I see things as the picture is being taken, no matter what it is...it is a moment in time..whether it is big or small it is still there, which is why photos are great. All I can do for me it to show what I do for that moment. To come onto this site we can see what thousands are doing for their moment, and to me that is AWESOME....it shows it is a small world, and sometimes bigger than we ever knew...but we are all still here together with different views. THAT MAKES IT GREAT!! I am sorry that I don't comment on each and every photo that gets posted on here, because we all take the time to show what we know and like and we all don't or can't comment on everything, but I guess for me I just want everyone to know that no matter if it show the greatest interest to me or not I think it is great you show your moment. That channel 7 has given us a site to do so. If we really think about it, every moment counts and I want to thank everyone for taking that moment of theirs and sharing it. YES CORNY I KNOW, but time does go by fast and we all can't know everyone and everything, but can appreciate it. So just wanted to share that! Thanks for giving me my moment!!

  • Poison Scare!

      Well my day wasnt too bad till just about 2 hours ago. As you all know I have two Yorkie's. Tiny lil sweet dog's. A Male and a Female ( Breeding pair ). The Female is finally pregnant!

      Since my Daughter moved in with us from Florida ( I guess in Florida they have roaches out the ying yang ) and she brought 1/2 the population of them with her. We had no clue and we've never had roaches in our home / homes ever. Well now we are bombarded by them. And I'm not really scared of most critters and roaches dont scare me " THEY GROSS ME OUT ". Supposedly carring millions of germs and viruses with them everywhere they travel. I really dont like them at all.

      So today while at the store I bought a bunch of roach baits, put them all over my house. Mind you the expensive one's called Combat Quick Kill Formula. The Caption on the box say's " Kills in Hours "!!!!

      My male Yorkie ate one completly. he left the plastic outside pretty much intact, eating only the bait on the inside.

      After much panic from all the kids & myself we finally got some answers.

      SO IF THIS EVER HAPPENS TO YOUR SMALL DOG.

      Give it Hydrogen Peroxide. Depending on the size ( my male Yorkie is only like 4 - 5 lbs ) I gave him 5 tablespoons of the hydrogen peroxide and a few bites of bread & he started hurling it all back up within 10 - 15 minutes.

      He's back to normal once again. But I will still have to keep an eye on him for several days watching for any signs of indegestional problems etc etc.

      The base for this poison is not arsnic. It is a chemical called Fipronil pronounced ( Fip-ro-nil ) .

      Believe it or not most of these newer ant & roach baits contain peanut butter and bread crumbs. Which makes it highly tempting to your pets.

      I only put one on the floor in the kitchen , the rest I put inside cabinets and drawers and behind the microwave & fridge. On my computer desk and ontop of the bathroom fixtures. Nothing in reach of my 4 yr old grandson who was told these were very bad for him and not to touch. My 7 yr old Tyler knew they were bad because he said his friends mom told him about them.

       Go figure the only one I would put on the floor behind the kitchen table my lil yorkie would get ahold of & eat.

      As I said he is fine now. I am done crying and shaking and praying for now. In fact I am exausted from the whole ordeal. I just thought I would share this with you all in case you might have something happen like this.

      ALSO.. This works great for bigger dogs too. And evidently Bigger Dogs like the baits even more than the smaller dogs.

      P.S. It's Monday morning and after a sleepless night the male yorkie ( Bam-Bam ) is fine. he slept like a log.. LOL.. that is if logs sleep. But anyways THANK YOU all for the comments and concerns. I am so happy to see he's doing fine. ALSO, Doc says to watch him for at least 3-4 days for gestational issues. I think he'll be fine as he didnt eat the plactic outside container at all. Goofy Dog! But I'm glad he didnt eat it cause thats what would have caused him to have gestational issues. Anyhooo's.. Thanks again folks !!!

  • After Fall Foliage's Departure

      With the few and brief opportunities for me to do fall foliage photography, I (we) have to bid it adieux!  What I view as my last visit to both my garden and "my" arboretum, the glory and beauty of the autumn colors have gone away not to be seen until next fall!  Photos I'd taken with the carpet of glorious colors are now replaced with the vesture fit for the deadness of winter.  This means beauty is gone and aesthetics are replaced with nakedness plainly visible!  Time can do and does this by the mandate of Mother Nature.  I am thankful for the beauty I've seen, the colorful images I've harvested, and the memories stored up for later recollection!  Of course this time prior to winter can still prove beneficial and provide certain challenges for us (which is good)!  I will have to find ways to do what I love within my limits presently.  On my last venture out I thought I should try a couple projects, and though I've begun them I don't know how it'll work out.  I will restrict myself to just the horizontal while using my DSLR, unless I switch to a different CF card or use a secondary camera.  For those who go strictly horizontal, I challenge you to go strictly vertical.  As for myself, I am and have become so resolute and trained to see and compose my images that way that it is interesting.  I may look through my DSLR's TTL (or viewfinder as it were) vertically, but I will not take the shot in that vertical until I decide to stop.  It's a good thing.  It's odd how people think that I take pictures of anything!  No, I do not take pictures of just anything.  Even if it's something mundane, there is a process in my mind and eye that I employee to compose and construct the image.  Even if I were photographing a heap of pennies, there will be a creative and mental wheel spinning in my mind to guide me in composition.  I am a photographer and an artist, though I may not reach the lofty heights of working for National Geographic!  Go and expand your muse my friend.

      I was wondering, things are getting soooo slow on here and it is almost impossible sometimes to upload anything. If we were all to trash most of our sent messages it might free up some memory to use elsewhere. I got rid of 250 of my "sent " messages just keeping the most recent. If we all did this it may help. If anyone has other suggestions please post. If we delete some of our recieved comments "DAVE?????" will it effect our blogs? We need to work together to clean up our site, I got sooo frustrated today trying to pass along a joke I got I almost gave up. I really love sharing with you guys, but this is taking away some of the fun. Do you agree????????????????

      Ok, Dave says the deleting won't help, so we can just do as we have been. I'm still going to delete some cause it bothers me.............lol
