Ok, I have been going over the data I collected (via streams and such)
And came to realize just how under powered I have been for the sake of video and data monitoring.
So, starting today, I am getting a little project underway to bring up computers 2 and 3 to network into a terminal server (Which is a home built information server) then, along with computer 1 (my main computer) can handle and process streams and packet radio (HAM Radio ops) in conjunction with ground site weather (That being my own weather station that you can buy for 120-200 dollars or so.
But Dan why are you doing this?
Truth be told, I am bored and need a hobby building exercise.
That and I love doing radio and computer work enough to do this experiment.
Now, being all sciencey and stuff I will lay out the experiment:
Question:
Why was I not able to keep my information up to date and in full real time with just one computer running?
Backround research:
Computer banks are often networked together to share processing and incoming information
Hypothesis:
Computing power is not enough to handle multiple streams coming from any launches (Be it Ares 1-x or the Shuttle launches)
Testing hypothesis in experiment:
Network 3 computers together using a central computer as a node server.
Wire in HAM packet radio into computer 2 to handle data packets.
Have an independant wifi radio networked in to provide real time mission audio.
Have Weather sensors wired into computer 1 (Terminal computer) to handle countdown and current weather conditions.
Results:
N/A until Shuttle Atlantis launch.
So, consider this a bored person utilizing the scientific method just to help a little computer and HAM radio hobby along.
Hope everyone had a good halloween. Temps are dropping here in Japan which means I'm gonna have to let my car run a little bit longer otherwise the battery will be dead in a week.

johnrooks1, 2 weeks ago | FlagIt is beautiful country, Dan have you been to the tunnel just West and North of you? Also, if you get a chance, I know it's a ways off, but Nagasaki is great. And there is a "bomb" museum that the Japanese are really proud of. The results of WWII, the bomb actually went off in the air above a church steeple and destroyed everything
but left the steeple standing. The one photo that brought tears to my eyes, and still does when I think about it, is high up the mountain was a barn. There was a man and his dog standing there probably in awe of the explosion. There was also a ladder leaning up against the barn. The flash incinerate d them all and left their shadows untouched on the charcoaled barn wood.
